Hello, I’m Louise

I’m the illustrator, printer and parcel-packer-in-chief behind Louise Thompson Studio.

I started drawing to get out of my head and into my hands. Before the art, I spent years as a teacher and breastfeeding counsellor, drawn to the same thing in both: the way people settle into themselves when they feel truly seen or heard.

When life handed me some of its hardest chapters, drawing became one of my paths back. It taught me that beauty and difficulty can coexist. A moment of brightness does not deny the hard thing. It simply reminds us that the hard thing is not the whole story.

That is what I try to make: small, colourful pieces designed to be sent, shared or kept close, for the moments that are hard to put into words, and for the people we love who are living inside them.

A woman with short, curly brown hair wearing sunglasses on her head, a black sleeveless top, and a red and orange beaded necklace, smiling against a dark background.

How I make my work

Each illustration is drawn by me in Procreate using an Apple Pencil. I print the work in my UK home studio, either to order or in small batches, then finish, pack and post every piece myself.

I choose tactile, matte papers that suit the artwork, including 300gsm cardstock for cards and Hahnemühle Photo Rag for fine art prints.
